I know this work because I’ve lived it.

At one point, I was completely hopeless.
Doctors told me to quit singing.

I thought something was wrong with me.
But it wasn’t me it was the system.

My mission now is to give singers what I didn’t have:
a way of working with the voice that supports the whole person. One that helps heal, un-shame, and empower you so you can trust your voice again and confidently step into your dreams.

Integrative Voice Work

For artists living with chronic pain and tension, who’ve tried everything to fix it and are still searching for relief.

For artists living with constant burnout, anxiety, or stage fright.

For artists who’ve experienced trauma.

For aspiring artists with big dreams of recording, performing, and writing who can’t seem to fully step into them.

You feel broken. Different. Hopeless.

Pain or tension shows up and your mind starts racing. Is this bad? Did I do something wrong?

You open your mouth to sing or to write, or perform and something shuts down inside you, a wall of tension, fear, or a voice in your head telling you you’re not good enough.

You used to love singing or creating.  Or you’ve always wanted to love it but you’ve never quite let yourself fully in.

There’s still this album you want to record, this show you want to do, songs you want to write, this open mic you want to walk into but you feel frozen

There’s a dream you don't dare to dream anymore because  you don’t believe you get to have it.

My Story

Isa Rose Photography

When I was a young girl, I sang and wrote songs at the piano just for the pure joy of it. One of my earliest memories is sitting at my grandma’s piano, writing a song and getting completely lost in the magic of it all. Singing and songwriting was my special sparkly sacred space.

But when I started pursuing it professionally, I lost that girl. I made singing, writing, and performing my whole life. What once felt natural and easy became intense pressure, debilitating perfectionism, a voice disorder, chronic pain, stage fright, anxiety, depression, addiction and burnout. Music, once my happy place was now a living nightmare.

Doctors shrugged their shoulders and one even suggested I quit singing! I felt hopeless, lost, alone, dismissed and ashamed that I couldn't "cut it" in the music business.  Maybe I wasn’t strong enough, or my voice was too fragile, or I just wasn’t good enough.

I tried everything.  Speech therapy, physical therapy, crazy diets, medication, talk therapy, voice lessons, you name it I tried it. And yes, a lot of it did help but it didn’t bring back my joy, my trust, or my spark.

Spoiler alert. I did get my joy, my trust and my spark back! Hallelujah! But how you ask?

I came to understand that my symptoms were a reflection of trauma and a chronically dysregulated nervous system. And at its core, it all came down to this:

  • Finding safety within myself and in my world

  • Building a foundation of compassion and care

  • Realizing that what I was seeking externally already lived within me

  • Learning to listen to my body

  • Developing a relationship with my pain

  • Understanding the language of my nervous system

When I began integrating nervous system work, pain reprocessing therapy and loving compassion work with singing, songwriting and performance everything changed!

These days I sing, write, release music, and perform on my own terms.

I’m a recovering perfectionist, an ex–people pleaser, and a boundary-setting extraordinaire!

I feel connection and joy when I perform. I enjoy writing songs, I love my songs. I am confident and free in my singing and speaking voice.

I found my way back to that little girl.

And now, this is my life’s work: helping singers and songwriters find their way back too, and sometimes finding their way for the first time.

I want to be the person I needed, the one who could see the bigger picture in a broken system that sets artists up for failure.

Healing is possible. Your wildest dreams can still come true. But it takes the right framework, and a true paradigm shift in how you relate to pain, to your voice, and to the way you create and perform, and guidance from someone who has walked that path.

That’s the work I’m here to do.

Berklee College of Music alumna. Multiple New England Music Awards. Boston Music Award nominations for Singer-Songwriter of the Year. Opened for Bon Jovi and Daughtry. Top 30 on American Idol.

And most importantly—a singer, coach, mentor and teacher who’s been through the fire and come out the other side.

Who I Work With

I work with two kinds of singers and/or songwriters

You might see yourself in both, I was both!

FAQ

Is this therapy?
No. This is not therapy, and I’m not a therapist.

I’m an Integrative Voice Mentor, offering trauma-informed, mind–body focused work that bridges vocal technique, nervous system regulation, and identity transformation.

Do you only work with singers recovering from muscle tension dysphonia?
No. While I do work with singers recovering from MTD, I also work with singers who haven’t had any voice conditions but feel stuck, blocked, or disconnected from their voice.

This includes singers who have experienced trauma, burnout, or difficulty fully stepping into their artistry.

Do you teach vocal technique?
Yes but this isn’t traditional voice training.

Technique can be part of the work if that is your desire, but it’s integrated into a trauma-informed approach that helps you get to the root of tension, blocks, and patterns in your voice and artistry.

Do you work with speaking voices as well?
Yes. While my work is rooted in singing, I also work with the speaking voice, especially when it comes to tension, expression, and feeling safe to be heard.

That said, I’m not a speech-language pathologist, and this work is not a replacement for speech therapy. If you have a clinical voice concern, you must work or have worked with a speech therapist before you start this process with me.

In many cases, the two work beautifully together, speech therapy supporting the voice function, and this work supporting the deeper nervous system, identity, and expression piece.

What if my voice or my artistry isn’t “good enough”?
That belief is often the exact thing we’re here to dismantle. You are enough. Please reach out

Do I need speech therapy first?
If you’ve been diagnosed with muscle tension dysphonia, I ask that you first work with a speech-language pathologist and reach a level of stability in your voice before we begin.

From there, we can build on that foundation and integrate it into the deeper work we’ll do together.

If you’ve already tried speech therapy and feel like something is still missing—or you’re not experiencing the results you hoped for—you’re welcome to reach out. This work often supports what hasn’t yet clicked.

If you’re not sure whether you have MTD, I recommend seeing an ENT to get clarity first.

I’m not a professional singer or songwriter. Can I still work with you?
Absolutely. I LOVE working with new singers and aspiring songwriters!

How long is the engagement?
Most clients work with me for 6 months to 2 years. This is deep, long-term work.

What if I’m not sure I’m ready?
Reach out anyway. You’ll leave with clarity, no matter what.

As a professional and touring singer with MTD, singing can sometimes come with many different emotions. After going through many different vocal coaches looking for help with no luck, I was losing hope. I stumbled upon Liz through one of her YouTube videos and immediately reached out. Liz has helped me grow and nurture my relationship with my voice and made singing more fun than it’s ever been! And she always has the answers, haha! I’ve never felt this confident in my voice thanks to my amazing mentor, coach, and friend..

Liz is amazing!!  My whole life, I was unable to sing without throat tension and her videos helped me identify my issue. I started working with her and it is exactly what I was hoping for. She works with me very patiently and gives me exercises that help make singing more natural and comfortable. I’ve worked with others before, but Liz’s approach with my singing has been more about sensation and feeling and less about guidelines and “one size fits all”. If you are considering going deep with her, please bless yourself.

I'd been singing for decades when Muscle Tension Dysphonia (MTD) stopped me in my tracks.
Liz is an absolute authority on the voice. She not only teaches proper vocal technique, but she does it in a very granular way while explaining what each exercise is helping to strengthen as it relates to singing.
She's simply wonderful to work with. She has quite literally saved my career.
